Absolutely wonderfulJun 26, 2008
By A. Fitzgerald This is an absolutely wonderful product. Product is as advertised. It does exactly what it's supposed to do; focuses with button pressed halfway down then pushing it completely is the shutter.
This goes great with my Pentax K100D Super. I was getting so tired of having to get my brother up in my room to focus out the lens so I don't get blurry photos.
The only complaint I have is that the cord could be a little bit longer. That'd be nice to have it about 2 feet longer.

Does the job 100%. Easy.Oct 31, 2009
By James HS I use this on a K20D. It doesn't have a long list of things to accomplish. There are only three things:
1: Allow the lens to autofocus - it does this. 2: Release the shutter - it does this. 3: Lock to allow bulb exposures - it does this.
So, a complete success.
At 36 inches, the cable is too short for taking photographs where the photographer's included in the shot. But if you want to do that, you can either purchase the version with the ten-foot cord, or use the wireless remote. (comment added 11/2009) Probably the cheapest and most effective way to increase the length is to use a standard 1/8" stereo jack extension cord of whatever length you wish. It will do the job and may be obtained at numerous places.

Opteka Remote Cable ReleaseJul 03, 2008
By Barry W. Scholles This product works great, just like the old style cable release that screws into the shutter release.
The release button itself is a little difficult to locate by feel since it isn't raised above the level of the plastic, but once you get used to the different front/back contours of the item, it works just fine.
Highly recommended when using camera on a tripod and/or low light situations requiring a longer shutter speed.

Works as advertized with minor annoyancesNov 09, 2008
By David J. McKee I've been using this quick release cable for about nine months now on my K200D and it certainly does work as advertized. It supports the same functionality as the standard shutter release button on the camera i.e. half press auto-focus, full press shutter-release, and it also has a lock so you can use it on very long exposures without having to hold the button down the entire time. This feature is nice for situations such as lightning shots or light graffiti.
Rarely the camera will stop responding to the external shutter release but a half-press on the on camera shutter release seems to fix the issue. The only real problem I've seen with this product is its' failure to work in cold weather. I'm not taking about freezing either. At about 50 degrees Fahrenheit it will fail to function at all. If I bring it inside and warm it up, it begins working again. This problem specifically is my reason for giving it only three stars otherwise I would have given it five based on its relative value.

So far so goodOct 24, 2008

I purchased this remote to use with my Pentax K200D. I've had no trouble, and it works as it should - so far. I have used it only a few different times. It seems to me to be a great economical alternative to the Pentax brand remote that costs about twice as much.
